Study Goal
The study's goal is to improve outcomes for patients with acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) by investigating differing treatments for ARS. Treatments included in this investigation include antibiotics, intranasal corticosteroids (INCS), saline nasal irrigation (SNI), and over-the-counter treatments. The data from this study can be used by clinicians and patients to inform effective treatment plans for ARS. We aim to:
Compare patient outcomes between patients randomized to amoxicillin-clavulanate against INCS among patients who do not improve with supportive care.
Identify which patient subgroups benefit the most from oral antibiotics against INCS based on baseline patient and disease characteristics.
Identify which patient subgroups improve with supportive care alone, and do not require additional interventions.
Funding
This study is funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). If you are interested in learning more about PCORI or speaking with the researchers, please contact Daniel Merenstein, MD at djm23@georgetown.edu.
